This dynamic, interactive course is aimed at encourage vein-preserving and time-saving techniques to improve outcomes and satisfaction for patients and carers. 

The aim of this course is to improve knowledge and confidence surrounding intravenous (IV) access decision making and insertion techniques. We use a consultant-led, interactive and hands-on approach to achieve our objectives. 

A selection of pre-course learning videos will allow all delegates to attend with a good baseline of theory in the techniques we are covering so as to ensure on the practical day as much time as possible is given to hands-on practice.

A variety of topics are covered throughout this course including:

  • Ultrasound-guided IV access
  • Intraosseous insertion
  • Midline insertion
  • Difficult cannulation
  • Finger and heel-prick blood sampling
  • Portacath access
  • Use of vein finding adjuncts
  • Troubleshooting central-vascular access devices
