Course Overview

This exciting course has been designed for emergency department doctors. It aims to build upon the airway skills acquired during ACCS, through tailored educational videos, complemented by a day of practical exercises and simulations. Participants will learn advanced techniques for airway management in emergency scenarios. 

The course provides comprehensive training, guiding participants from initial assessment of the patient, through the use of rapid sequence induction (RSI) for anaesthetising, to maintaining anaesthesia post RSI and managing emergencies in intubated patients.

Completing the course does not equate to competency or permit independent practice; rather, it aids in developing the skills and confidence necessary to contribute to a logbook of activities

 

Learning Objectives:

  • To practice and gain confidence in basic airway management for emergencies
  • To practice and gain confidence in supporting and undertaking emergency anaesthesia in the emergency department

Start and finish times:

08:00 – 17:30 (breaks built into the course timetable)

Minimum requirement for entry to course:

6 months Anaesthetics

6 months Intensive care
